Planning for the Future – Without Leaving It to Chance

As a parent of two young daughters — one of whom is in Class 4 — I often find myself reflecting on how fast time is moving. Amid school projects, birthday parties, and bedtime stories, there are quieter moments when thoughts drift toward the future.

And in those moments, one question keeps coming back:

“Are we truly prepared for what lies ahead — for ourselves and for our children?”

Life has been kind so far. Like many others, we’ve worked hard, made thoughtful decisions, and built a sense of financial security over time. There’s no immediate worry, no big alarm bells. But as a parent, that’s exactly what makes me pause.

Because financial peace of mind isn’t just about where we stand today — it’s about knowing where we’re headed tomorrow.

Why I Built (and Use) Fintellect

That’s what led me to build and use a tool like Fintellect.

I wanted something that could help me understand — in simple terms:

  • Where we are financially today

  • What our future looks like based on current income, expenses, and investments

  • And what needs to change if we want to achieve our family’s life goals

Fintellect gives me a single view of everything — my bank transactions, credit card spends, savings, and investments — all neatly categorized and visualized. But more importantly, it lets me simulate our financial future, helping me answer questions like:

  • Will we be okay if there’s a break in income?

  • Can we afford that international college in 10 years?

  • Are we saving enough, or just assuming we are?

It’s a small habit that has brought us a lot of clarity.

And here’s something I believe strongly:
This tool can — and should — be used as a shared exercise between husband and wife.

And as our children grow older, I believe there’s real value in involving them too — at the right time — so they begin to understand the basics of money, choices, and planning early on.

If This Resonates With You…

If you’re a fellow parent reading this and have had similar thoughts — I invite you to explore Fintellect. It’s still early days, and we’re improving it every week, but the foundation is strong and the intent is honest.

I work closely with the team, so if you have any questions or want help getting started, feel free to reach out to me directly.

Thanks for reading — and for being part of a community that truly wants the best for our children.

Warmly,
Chintan
